Research in the Lin Lab is focused on understanding the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury (AKI) and the transition of AKI to chronic kidney disease (CKD). We take the approaches of cell and molecular biology, renal pathophysiology, and mouse genetics to understand kidney tubular stress response to ischemic injury and metabolic perturbation. Current projects involve regulation of autophagy by FoxO3 transcription factor in kidney epithelial cells as well as generation of animal models to study the mechanism of CKD development in humans born preterm. Our goal is to identify molecular pathways that could be targeted for future therapy to prevent and treat chronic kidney disease.
