Continuing Medical Education
Specialty Updates for the General Pediatrician
The department, in collaboration with Columbia's Center for Continuing Medical Education, offers an annual CME program each December. The course is geared toward general pediatricians who want to expand their knowledge in a variety of subspecialty areas with new or updated guidelines or practice parameters that impact primary pediatric care. The conference provides the primary care physician with practical information that will help them to become more knowledgeable in identifying, understanding, and co-managing a variety of complex conditions along with the subspecialist.
Additional courses related to pediatrics are offered throughout the year by the Center for Continuing Medical Education, which provides and supports coursework that bridges the gap between current and best practice standards. The schedule of, and registration for, upcoming courses can be found here.
Columbia Children's Health Webinars
In mid-2020 the department launched a series of monthly, hour-long webinars to bring our expert knowledge on a broad range of contemporary topics in children's care to the pediatrics community. Over the past two years the department's pediatric specialists have covered a range of topics, including discussions on advances in diabetes treatment and research, COVID-19 and cardiac complications in children, rare pediatric diseases, working toward health equity in pediatric care, and more. The entire series is available for viewing on the Columbia Children's Health youtube channel.
