Pediatric Health Equity Clerkship for Visiting Students

NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is located in the heart of the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. With a rich history of contributions to pediatrics, we are dedicated to advancing care through research, quality improvement, advocacy, and education. Our 265,000-square-foot inpatient facility, completed in 2004, is the largest and highest-rated children's facility in the tri-state area and ranks among the top in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

We take pride in serving our patients and families, ensuring the highest quality care for every individual. Our department is committed to fostering a learning environment where residents are active participants in shaping their education, developing leadership skills, and responding to the changing needs of the community and populations we serve

Students with demonstrated commitment to health justice and equity in clinical and/or research settings are welcome to apply. This rotation will offer students the opportunity to gain insight into the values of equity in pediatric care, fostering a deeper understanding of its role in shaping the future of healthcare

The Pediatric Health Equity Clerkship for Visiting Students offers both in-person and virtual options for students to engage with the structure and culture of the NYP-Columbia Department of Pediatrics. This rotation emphasizes the importance of understanding health equity as a foundational aspect of pediatric care. Through exposure to advanced clinical management concepts, team-building, and self-reflection, students gain insights into how these principles shape medicine and improve outcomes for all children
