Child and Adolescent Health

2024 Pediatrics Annual Report banner

The Division of Child and Adolescent Health (CAH) is dedicated to improving the health of children and adolescents in New York City and defining model programs for the care of high-risk children everywhere. We provide comprehensive clinical services and community health programs in partnership with the Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and conduct research and develop innovative programs. CAH includes general and community pediatrics, adolescent medicine, the child advocacy center, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, newborn medicine, and a newborn clinic.

Members of the Division are both pediatric generalists and subspecialists. CAH is responsible for the newborn medicine unit and the adolescent consult service at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and includes 46 full-time faculty, several part-time and sessional faculty, and 107 affiliated faculty. Division members serve as both the gateway (e.g., generalists, adolescent medicine) to the subspecialties and support for other subspecialists (e.g., adolescent medicine, complex care, child maltreatment, developmental-behavioral pediatrics). Our faculty practice in various settings, including community and school-based health centers, the newborn medicine unit, and ColumbiaDoctors. CAH has both a clinical and basic science research footprint and is home to the Center for Children’s Digital Health Research.

In 2024:

  • The Division hired two new faculty in adolescent medicine and in general pediatrics.
  • Division members were awarded new major R01 funding on the effectiveness and implementation of text message reminders for pediatric COVID-19 and influenza vaccines.
  • Division members published key articles in the areas of Long COVID, neurodevelopment, medical education, child well-being, respiratory infections, sexual and reproductive health, social determinants of health and health equity.
